ROCHESTER - If motorists on Route 11 think The Ridge Marketplace is starting to take shape, they're right.

In less than a month, three of the Ridge's major tenants will be opening; Petco, Famous Footwear and Marshall's will all be opening their doors on April 28, followed by Hobby Lobby on May 21, according to Jen Fairfield, marketing director of project developer Waterstone Retail.

Market Basket, which had hoped to be open by Memorial Day, has seen its opening delayed till early July.

A potential multiplex cinema operator, however, is still not tied down, said Fairfield, who noted interest in such a venture is still very high.

"There's a lot of interest and we're talking to many cinema operators," Fairfield added.

When Phase II of the agreement with Rochester was signed in December, the square footage at the Ridge increased from 300,000 square feet to almost a half-million square feet.

The Ridge, located on Farmington Road near the Rochester Walmart, is expected to house some 25-30 retail outlets, including five or so restaurants and a cinema complex.

According to the lease plan on the company's website, at least four restaurants are notated along with a junior anchor store, an outdoor park and other subdividable retail, entertainment or restaurant space.

The Ridge is expected to add 800-plus jobs and invest $40 million in facilities over the next three years.
