31-year-old Berwick man dies, passenger hurt in ATV crash on trail near his home

BERWICK, Maine - A Berwick man died and his passenger was injured on Thursday when he rolled his ATV on a trail near his home.

The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. when Tyler Anderson, 31 of Berwick; and Keri Roche, 33, were riding on a Polaris RZR 900 ATV driven by Anderson on a trail on the Hall Road. An initial investigation indicates that the ATV veered off the trail, hit an embankment and flipped over.

Anderson sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H., by DHART helicopter. He died a short time after arriving at the hospital. Roche sustained non-life threatening facial injuries in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by the Maine Warden Service, but the initial investigation indicates excessive speed for the terrain is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
