BREAKING NEWS: Rochester man, 24, severely injured in South Main St. collision

ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was seriously injured today when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on South Main Street in Rochester. Police responded to the area of 111 South Man St. around 5:30 a.m. to find that a 2010 Nissan Rogue had collided with a 2022 Harley Davidson Iron 883 and that the motorcycle was underneath the vehicle. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Nissan was headed downtown when it made a left-hand turn into a business, crossed the opposite lane of travel and collided with the motorcycle. The operator of the Harley was identified as Hunter Petry, 24, of Rochester. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Petry was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the Nissan was identified as Raymond Cooper, 69, of East Rochester. He was unhurt. The Harley Davidson took heavy damage and was towed from the scene, while the Nissan sustained minor damage, but was also towed. Due to the severity of the crash the Strafford County Regional Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation. All aspects involving the crash remain under investigation.
