ROCHESTER - A Rochester teenager crossing Wakefield Street to go to school was injured today when he was struck by a car.

Police say the 14-year-old boy was crossing the street in the area of a crosswalk around 7:20 a.m. when he was hit by a 2004 Dodge Stratus driven by Sarah E. O'Halloran, 31, of Sanbornville., N.H.

The impact caused him to strike the windshield and then land on the pavement.

The boy's dad had just dropped him off, and was on-scene with his son.

The teen was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital by Frisbie EMS with nonlife-threatening injuries. O'Halloran was not injured.

The impact of the young man hitting the vehicle shattered its windshield.

The roadway was limited to one lane of travel during the investigation. Police are still talking to witnesses, and it's unknown at this time if any charges will be filed. Anyone that may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Officer James Murphy.

Rochester Police took the opportunity to remind motorists that all schools in the city are back in session and to use extra care when traveling by any school, especially in the mornings and afternoons.
