ROCHESTER - Police say a Rochester woman arrested on Thursday faces charges that she spit on a Frisbie Memorial Hospital employee while being tended to in the hospital's emergency room last month.

Samantha Engelking, 35, of 123 North Main St., Apt. #A, had active warrants out on her for the May 23 incident, but wasn't spotted by police until an officer saw her walking along North Main Street around 2:50 p.m. on Thursday.

After losing sight of her for a moment, the officer spotted her again in the passenger seat of a car. Following a traffic stop she was taken into custody.

Engelking is charged with simple assault, a Class B misdemeanor, for allegedly spitting at the Frisbie employee; and two counts of vandalism for damage done at the hospital, Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said today.

Bail was initially set at $2,500 pending her arraignment at Rochester District Court.
