Cocheco River drawdown begins today

Staff Reports

ROCHESTER - Rochester officials said that a drawdown of the Cocheco River water level at the Upper City Dam will begin today.

Lowering of the water level behind the dam is necessary for the completion of upgrades to the dam, officials said.

The drawdown process should take seven to 10 days, and the water level will remain at that lowered level for six to eight weeks.

The Upper City Dam is located just downstream of the North Main Street Bridge located in the downtown.
