He was born in Wolfeboro. On September 5,1938, the son of the late George A. and Gladis R. (Hopkinson) Kent. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High, class of 1956 in Portsmouth.
Donald was a lifelong 3rd generation talented artisan bricklayer. His life goal was to have his work represented in all 50 states, which was nearly accomplished only missing Hawaii and Alaska.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, as his father was the oldest registered fish and game guide in the state of N.H. He enjoyed sharing his love of the forest, wildlife, fishing and especially teaching his son and daughters and grandchildren to be responsible fisherman and hunters.
