Dover woman struck in crosswalk succumbs to injuries; driver to get minor violation

DOVER - A Dover woman has succumbed to injuries suffered when she was struck by a car on Sunday.

Dover police say Edith Gordon, 60, was struck crossing Chestnut Street inside a marked crosswalk around 10:30 a.m.

The driver of the Toyota Matrix that ran into Gordon has been identified by police as Teresa Taylor, 68, of Dover.

Police say Terry was traveling down Orchard Street, turned onto Chestnut and collided with Gordon.

According to a news release, several Good Samaritans sought to provide medical aid and to comfort Taylor who was "distraught" and stopped immediately after the accident. Gordon died on Monday.

Police said there is no evidence that speed or impairment contributed to what happened, and said Taylor will be cited for only a motor vehicle violation.

Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to call 603-742-4646 or contact the Dover Crimeline at 603-749-6000 or at www.dovernhcrimeline.org.
