Elderly Rochester motorcyclist seriously hurt in crash

ROCHESTER - An elderly Rochester man was Medflighted to Maine Med with serious injuries on Tuesday when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle near the Merchants Plaza on Old Dover Road.

The accident occurred around 3:40 p.m. when police say Armand Bourret Jr. 76, of Rochester, was traveling south on Old Dover on his 2002 Harley Davidson when a 2004 Nissan Sentra being driven by Jared Dixon, 27, of Middleton, pulled out of the Merchants Plaza parking lot crossing in front of the motorcycle.

Bourret was not wearing a helmet and was transported by Lifeflight of Maine to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries. Dixon was not injured.

Due to the initial injuries of the motorcycle operator, the Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team came out to assist in the investigation. Old Dover Road was closed down during this investigation and once complete the roadway was opened.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed.
