Ex-Sanford Fire Chief hired as new head of Rescue | raymond parent, rescue chief

LEBANON - A longtime Sanford Fire Chief and former Maine Fire Chief of the Year was hired as Lebanon’s new Rescue Department chief on Wednesday.

Raymond Parent of Sanford has more than 40 years of experience in municipal fire departments. He also spent 10 years on the State of Maine Emergency Medical Services Board with three of those years as chairman.

Parent was Sanford’s Fire Chief for 15 years and was named the state’s Fire Chief of the Year in 2005.

Parent also served as an interim town manager for the Town of Sanford in 2004. The York County Fire and Rescue Chief’s Association awarded Chief Parent the “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2008. He also served in the Navy for four years.

According to a Board of Selectmen’s press release, Parent will serve the Town of Lebanon in an administrative role for the Rescue Department and will be interviewing prospective candidates for the Assistant Chief position, which will lead the operations side of the department.
