Farmington motorcyclist injured in Eastie crash

EAST ROCHESTER - A Farmington motorcyclist was injured on Saturday when he collided with a car at the corner of Salmon Falls Road and Highland Street in East Rochester.

Police were called around 7:40 p.m. and after a preliminary investigation found that Harold Benda, 65, of Portsmouth, N.H., was traveling west on Highland Street in a 2003 Ford Escape when he went to make a left turn onto Salmon Falls Road then decided to take a right turn onto Salmon Falls Road.

A motorcycle behind Benda, a 2001 Harley Davidson, being driven by Richard McKenney, 61, of Farmington, N.H., was attempting to pass Harold's vehicle on the right to continue traveling west on Highland when the vehicles collided. 
McKenney was transported to Frisbie Hospital by Farmington EMS with minor injuries. 
The vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

McKenney was not wearing a helmet.
Both vehicles suffered minor damage and the motorcycle was towed from the scene. 
Benda was summonsed for Improper Turn and Failure to yield.
