ROCHESTER - Rochester firefighters made quick work of a smoky basement fire Saturday on Hilton Lane.
After getting the call around 10:30 a.m. Rochester Fire responded to the home for a report of smoke coming from the basement.
Firefighters made an interior attack and were able to quickly knock down the fire, which originated in the boiler room in the basement.
All occupants of the home had safely evacuated prior to the fire department's arrival.
Fire and water damage was confined to the basement area.
No injuries were reported, and residents said they are staying with family while repairs are made to the home.
"Firefighters did an excellent job of quickly extinguishing this fire to prevent any further damage to the rest of the home," Interim Chief Mark Dupuis said.
The cause of the fire remains under active investigation by the Rochester Fire Department.
