ROCHESTER - Practicing yoga can uplift the spirit, nurture the soul and bring peace and contentment in a tumultuous world.

And beginning next month veterans will be able to take advantage of this ancient and venerable Indian discipline for free.

The program will be funded by Frisbie Memorial Hospital and take place at 95 South Main St. in Rochester.

"I feel very strongly about supporting our veterans, this is one thing we can do," said Frisbie CEO John Marzinzik.

Veterans can expect a host of benefits if they stick with the program, according to one yoga specialist and founder of the Exalted Warrior Foundation, especially if they suffer from PTSD.

They include dealing with stress, calming the nervous system, helping with social reintegration and revealing the body's habits.

The free-for-veterans classes begin on July 12 and will run every Wednesday from 1-2 p.m.
