LEBANON - Southern Maine Garden Club (SMGC) held its annual Garden Party and Membership Drive at the Belgian Meadows Farm in Lebanon on Wednesday, Aug.28.

The Garden Party was our annual Membership Drive and all were invited to attend. A light dinner was served, and then Belgian Meadows Farm owner Steve Collins took garden club members for a ride in one of his buggies. They toured the lovely gardens and acres where there is a sugar shack for the production of maple syrup and a saw mill.

SMGC meets throughout the year at the Springvale Library on the third Wednesday of every month beginning at 6:45 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). The public is invited to attend to sample our meetings to see if they would like to join.

The Sept. 18 meeting will be at the Springvale Library at 443 Main St., Springvale, beginning at 6:45 p.m. when the topic will be on the benefits of worm castings by Michelle Welch. Worm castings are the new “gold” for gardeners – the soil will be healthy and rich in nutrients.
