ROCHESTER - A sprawling, historic barn dating back to the 1870s went up in smoke Saturday evening.

The three-alarm fire at 682 Portland did so much structural damage to the barn it had to be razed.

While the barn was leveled firefighters were able to save the main farmhouse.

No firefighters or residents were hurt in the blaze.

An investigation is under way into the cause of the fire.
