Man rushed to Frisbie after downtown stabbing incident

ROCHESTER - A downtown stabbing in broad daylight drew a heavy police response Tuesday.

The call came in around 2:45 p.m. for what was termed a disturbance at the corner of South Main and Academy streets.

Once on scene it was learned that a 44 year old male victim had been stabbed in the upper right arm after an altercation. The victim was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

The suspect had fled the scene but police found his a short time later on Portland Street where he was taken into custody without incident.

Paul Lupo, 47, a transient, was charged with one count of second degree assault, a Class B felony.

Lupo was taken to Strafford County Jail where his bail is set at $5,000 cash.

He will be arraigned later today at Strafford County Superior Court.
