Marshals nab Rochester shooting suspect in R.I.

Kerry Joseph

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Fugitive Kerry Joseph, the lone suspect in Rochester’s Lafayette Street shooting last month, was arrested today in a basement apartment in Pawtucket by U.S. Marshals.

Joseph, 27, with a last known address of New York Street in Dover, N.H., had been on the run ever since the July 29 daytime shooting of a 19-year-old Dover man, who continues his recovery after sustaining injuries that were described as life threatening.

After Rochester Police asked for help from the New Hampshire Fugitive Task Force in catching up with Joseph last week as reported by The Lebanon Voice on Friday, the investigation quickly spanned three states and was a cooperative effort among several law enforcement agencies.

Investigators developed leads that took them this morning to a basement apartment in the 300 Block of Sayles Avenue in Pawtucket.

During the arrest Joseph attempted to flee from the apartment, was confronted by law enforcement and returned to hide inside. He was quickly found and taken into custody without incident.

Joseph will be arraigned later today at Pawtucket District Court, as a fugitive from justice on the outstanding arrest warrant of first-degree assault.
