MILTON - The downtown Milton Cumberland Farms is expected to be closed for three to four weeks, according to a corporate spokesperson this morning who was visiting the store in advance of the renovation project.
The remodeling that begins May 28 will comprise a face lift and expansion of the store, which will increase in size by about a third, taking over space that was formerly the Milton House of Pizza.
Corporate officials had earlier indicated they would continue to sell gas and perhaps cigarettes and a few sundries, but that plan has been scrubbed. The store will close down completely for the duration of the project.
Customers will notice a much “prettier” store when it reopens in June, said the spokesperson, more in line with the store in East Rochester that was remodeled recently.
The spokesperson said that oftentimes Cumberland Farms stores remain open during remodeling, but in this case it wasn’t practical.
Lakeside Market is said to be gearing up for the closure and stocking more items to fill the void.
