'Munch Madness' looks to be a slamdunk success

ROCHESTER - The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, Rochester Economic Development Department and Rochester Main Street are working together with Rochester’s restaurants to host “Munch Madness,” a Tournament of Restaurant Offerings that coincides with the annual NCAA basketball play-offs.

Each participating restaurant will be offering a special item during this period, and patrons will be encouraged to go online and vote for their favorite restaurant. The winning restaurant will receive a plaque and the title of 2014 Munch Madness Winner (complete with bragging rights for one year). This promotion showcases the diversity of dining options in Rochester and encourages patrons to try different house specialties, although no purchase is necessary to cast your vote. 

Participating restaurants and their featured offers include: Bella Fresca: One Topping Small Pizza for $4.99; Buffalo Wild Wings: Small Traditional Wings for $10.19; Clemento’s Pizzeria & Brew: 13 Inch Specialty White Pizza for $8.99; Domino’s Pizza: One Medium Topping Pizza for $4.99; Draught Pick Pub: Irish Nachos for $7.95;  Fat Tony’s Italian Grill: Steamed Mussels for $10.95;  Happy Pappy’s Country Store: Loaded Twice Baked Potato for $4.00; Granite Steak & Grill: Fillet Tips with choice of two sides for $13.99; La Corona Mexican Restaurant and Cantina: Chicken or Steak Fajita Salad for $8.95; Lilac City Grille: LCG House Smoked Pastrami Sandwich for $12.99; Mel Flanagan’s Irish Pub & Café: Reuben with French fries or onion rings for $10.95; Papaya Thai Restaurant: Pad Thai for $8.95; SK’s Greenside Grille at Rochester Country Club: Cheeseburger Sliders for $5; Spaulding Steak & Ale: BBQ Chicken Nachos for $8.95; The Dynasty Restaurant: Mon-Fri Luncheon Buffet for $8.50; The Farmer’s Kitchen: Eggs Benedict for $7.49;  The Garage at The Governor’s Inn: The Garage Sampler for $15.95;  The Portable Pantry: Downtown Panini for $7.50 or Breakfast Bun for $6.95;  The Publick House: Jameson Steak Tips, $14.95; and Windjammers: Seafood-Haddock Fish and Chips for $7.99.

Voters may also vote via smartphones through a special QR Code at participating restaurants. No votes will be accepted until March 16. Each Friday during “Munch Madness” we will list the leading four restaurants with the most votes on our websites.
