LEBANON - Verna Lee Garland, 69, passed away at her home on Saturday, Sept., 21, 2013, with her loving family by her side. Verna was born on March 21, 1944 in Porter, Maine, to the late Roland and Arlene Day.

Verna was a wonderful person inside and out. She loved her family more than anything and she showed it every day. She always sat at her kitchen table and had the kindest things to say or just listen to you and had a way of making you feel that everything was going to be OK.

Verna's smile was so beautiful and her heart was so big. Her faith was strong and she believed everything happens for a reason. She lived with pain every day, but never questioned “why me?” She was the strongest person you ever wanted to know. Even through all her pain, she would still give you a smile and say how much she loved you. There are not enough words to express how loved she was and how much she will be missed. But she will never be forgotten and will forever live in our hearts. Verna loved her husband David and her children very much.

But there was also another love, and that was her love of antiques. She was so happy to find a new piece and would say, “This is very old, don't you just love it?” Her beautiful home is full of all her treasures. She loved to decorate and made everyone feel so at home.

She also loved her animals. She was always trying to help something or someone. Her heart was so big. She never gave up her fight or will to live until the end. She lives on in our hearts with no pain and can watch over all of us.

Along with her parents, Verna is predeceased by her brother Ronald Day.

Verna is survived by her loving Husband David Garland of the home; two daughters, Lori Leach and her husband, John, of Lebanon, Arlene Hall of Lebanon; three sons, Larry Potvin and wife Peggy of Strafford, N.H., Keith Potvin of Lebanon,  Paul Potvin and wife Patty of Somersworth, N.H.; two stepsons, Robert Garland and Randy Garland; two sisters, Ann Toof and her husband Paul, Pat Cilley and her husband Ray; eighteen grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
