WATERBORO - A Friday night party in Waterboro got a little out of hand when a reveler asked to leave assaulted the homeowner and several others, even stabbing one several times before deputies arrived.

The York County Sheriff's Office responded to the call around 10:45 p.m. and upon arriving determined that the partygoer, Vincent Cole, 26, of Waterboro, was asked to leave by the homeowner after damaging some property.

Police say Cole resisted and a fight between Cole, and the homeowner began. Cole also assaulted another man who intervened, then grabbed an aluminum pipe and continued the assault on the two men before fleeing outside.

Once outside, an angry crowd spilled from the residence to confront Cole, who produced a knife he was carrying and threatened several people. He eventually stabbed another victim, a Good Samaritan who had responded from a nearby lake house when he heard screams, several times.

Cole fled when deputies arrived, but was quickly caught.

He was charged with one count of elevated aggravated assault, and two counts of aggravated assault. He remains in jail with a bail of $5000 and will be arraigned on Monday.

The stabbing victim was transported to Maine Medical Center by Lifeflight of Maine and is reported in stable condition.

Rescue personnel treated and released the other two men who were assaulted at the scene.
