Police: Man found asleep at wheel had heroin on him

LEBANON - A Kennebunk man was arrested on Wednesday near Hometown Mobil after State Troopers were called to the scene for a man reportedly asleep inside his car at the stoplight at the intersection of Route 202 and West Lebanon and Hubbard roads.

State Police got the initial call around 3:15 p.m. and when State Trooper John Darcy responded soon after he performed a field sobriety test on the man, Kevin Masteller, 49.

According to State Police, Masteller performed "poorly" on the tests and was in the process of being placed under arrest when Darcy located a bag of what appeared to be heroin in Masteller's pocket.

Masteller was transported to the York County Jail in Alfred where he was booked on a felony drug possession and criminal OUI charges. The total weight of the heroin was reported to be three grams.
