ROCHESTER - A Rochester man died early Wednesday when the Jackson Street camper he was living in was struck by fire around 2 a.m.

Kevin Perry, 50, was identified as the man killed in the blaze. His death was due to smoke inhalation and ruled accidental by the state's fire marshal's office.

The fire and its cause are still under investigation, though safety officials reminded the public not to use space heaters as a long-term heat source or to use extension cords when hooking them up.

The camper was located in the area of 28 Jackson St. behind a residence.
