Rochester man hurt in crash continues to improve
Staff reports 11:30 a.m. PORTLAND, Maine - The Rochester man seriously injured in a rollover crash on the Spaulding Turnpike on Friday continues to improve but is not out of the woods yet. Lawrence Douglas, 37, the driver in the crash, sustained life-threatening injuries and was Medflighted to Maine Medical Center in Portland soon after the crash which occurred around 8:30 p.m. A hospital spokesman said today his condition was upgraded to fair after having been in critical condition then serious condition following the crash. The extent and nature of Douglas' injuries were not disclosed due to privacy laws. A passenger in the car, 54-year-old James Gosselin of Rochester, died at the scene.
