DOVER - A Rochester man has been indicted in the brutal baseball bat beating of another man more than a year ago.

Gabriel Valentin, 38, of 4 Townsend Lane, was formally charged last month with three felony counts including first-degree assault and two counts of criminal threatening in the Aug. 18, 2016, attack that occurred in Rochester.

Court documents regarding the most serious charge of first-degree assault say that Valentin, acting in concert with Windell Conley, "caused injury to (the victim) by striking him with a metal bat about the body, causing swelling, bruising and/or bleeding."

The criminal threatening counts are for allegedly using restraints on the victim while hitting him with the bat, and brandishing a handgun at the victim.

If convicted on all counts, Valentin could be sentenced for up to 29 years.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down and released late last month.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather than a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
