ROCHESTER - State police say a Sanbornville man was killed Tuesday when he pulled over on Route 16 in Rochester to retrieve a gas grill and was hit by a drunk driver.
The accident occurred around 5:15 p.m., according to State police Lt. Long was traveling with his son, Christopher Long, 52, also of Sanbornville, on Route 16 when the gas grill fell out of the back of their pickup.
Long was in the roadway attempting to retrieve the grill when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Grabowski was arrested for driving under the influence.
Route 16 northbound was closed at Exit 16 for about four hours as state police investigated the crash and the vehicles were removed.
