LEBANON - Town Offices personnel today certified 245 of the 258 signatures that were submitted last Tuesday, validating the citizens petition for a revote on the Nov. 4 ambulance question.

The Save our Ambulance movement, which has its own Facebook page (keyword Save our Ambulance), has asked to be placed on the agenda for Tuesday night's 6:30 p.m. selectmen's meeting.

About 10 volunteers gathered the signatures between Friday and Tuesday. They were delivered to Town Offices Tuesday afternoon, but weren't able to be certified until today due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

"We had a great turnout for the meeting two weeks ago, and I'm hoping we have more folks come out tomorrow night," said Harrison Thorp, an organizer of the drive. "I hope everyone who came will tell two friends and bring them, too."

Selectmen have said the Maine Municipal Association has advised them the petition, although validated, does not necessarily force selectmen's hands into scheduling a revote, but they are open to all options nonetheless.
