Slick roads blamed in Lower Cross crash

Slick roadways were likely to blame in a single-vehicle crash on Lower Cross Road this afternoon.

The driver, a Sanford male, slid off the roadway in his 2000 Chevrolet Cobalt a short ways from the intersection of Center Road, damaging the vehicle’s undercarriage and front right side, said Lebanon Fire Chief Skip Wood who was at the scene.

The accident occurred a little after 4 p.m. as roads became slippery due to a spring storm that brought a mix of ice, rain and snow to the area.

The driver was treated at the scene, while the vehicle was deemed inoperable and was towed.
