CONCORD - A statewide burn ban remains in effect today for the foreseeable future. Governor Kelly Ayotte issued the statewide proclamation prohibiting all open burning and smoking in or near woodlands due to severe drought and high fire danger conditions.
Th ban will remain in effect until the NH Division of Forests and Lands downgrades the fire danger level and the area receives significant rainfall. Residents are reminded to dispose of smoking materials properly and to exercise extreme caution outdoors. If you see or smell smoke, call 911 immediately. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our community safe. For questions, please contact the Rochester Fire Department at 603-335-7545 and ask for the on-duty officer.
