The Granite State Street Rodders, a Rochester classic car club that does considerable charity work, will have its first Cruise Night of the season this Saturday at the Rochester Community Center next to Spaulding High and across from McDonald's on Wakefield Street.

Among the hot rodders is Rusty Martin of Milton, who will be at the Cruise Night in his turquoise and white 1955 Chevrolet Belair, a two-door sedan with a six-cylinder three-speed on the column standard.

Martin said there would be lots of classic cars and street rods on display like Mike Cote of Rochester's 1965 Chevrolet Impala and Pete Adams of Rochester's 1941 Chevrolet Coupe as well a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and plenty of food and drink.

In all, as many as 50-100 cars could be on display, Martin said.

All the money earned goes to charity, with this year's proceeds going to the Rochester Youth Center, which helps homeless children in Rochester.

Cruise night starts at 5 p.m.

The club will also be participating at Milton's Summer Kickoff on June 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Town Beach.

Martin said anyone with a classic rod is welcome to show up at either event, and if anyone would like to join the Granite State Street Rodders they should contact Adams at 603-332-7741 or Cote at 603-332-0439.
