CONCORD - A bill signed into law on Friday will honor the memory of a lawman who died in the line of duty while working security at New Hampshire Hospital.

SB 592 renames Route 127 from Central Street in Franklin to the town line of Sanbornton as "Chief Bradley Haas Memorial Highway."

"Chief Bradley Haas was an absolute hero who gave his life protecting patients and staff while on duty as a security officer at New Hampshire Hospital," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Through this tribute within his hometown, Chief Haas will be remembered as a devoted public servant who faithfully served his community for nearly three decades."

Haas was killed on Nov. 17 while working as a New Hampshire Department of Safety Correction Officer assigned to New Hampshire Hospital. Prior to joining the Department of Safety, Haas served as a military police officer in the U.S. Army, followed by nearly 30 years with the Franklin Police Department, with many years spent as the town's Chief of Police.
