Suspicious package sent to Shea-Porter's Dover office probed

DOVER - The Dover Police Department is today investigating whether a suspicious package delivered on Monday to Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter's district office on Central Avenue contains any harmful material or was part of a terrorism scenario.

The package came to the office in a regular mail delivery during the afternoon.

Office staff contacted police after discovering suspicious contents in the package.

According to police, the staff followed standard security protocols and no one was injured or sickened as a result of the incident.

The Dover Police Department and the United States Capitol Police are investigating the incident. Due to the on-going nature of the investigation, limited details will be released at this time.

This case is being investigated by the Dover Police Department's Special Investigations Bureau.
