BARRINGTON - Two Barrington residents died on Wednesday when their vehicle was rear-ended on Route 125 and pushed into the opposing lane of traffic where it collided with a commercial vehicle.

Barrington Police responded around 1 p.m. to the intersection of Route 125 and Newtown Plains Road where they found an accident scene that involved two passenger vehicles and a commercial vehicle, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the first passenger vehicle was headed southbound on Route 125 awaiting a left-hand turn when it was struck from behind by a second passenger vehicle, which caused the first vehicle to enter the northbound travel lane where it was struck by the commercial vehicle.

Police said a 25-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, both from Barrington, were killed in the crash.

Another driver, an 83-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital due to her injuries.

The names of the deceased have not been released.
