EAST LEBANON - A three-car accident in front of Trains Quickstop on Route 202 sent five patients to the hospital on Saturday.

The crash occurred around 4:45 p.m. when a 2010 GMC pickup headed east was stopped to turn into the convenience store, was rear-ended by a 2004 Toyota pickup and pushed into the westbound lane of traffic, according to a press release from Lebanon Fire.

A Kia SUV traveling westbound then plowed into the GMC, spinning the vehicle around and entrapping the driver, who was freed using an extraction tool.

All five were transported to Southern Maine Health Center in Sanford with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries. One of the patients was later transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Lebanon Fire Department, Lebanon Rescue, North Berwick Rescue and Sanford Rescue all responded to the scene.

The Portland Press Herald today cited State Police as identifying the driver of the GMC as Kevin Warden, 48, of Lebanon. Also identified as the driver of the Toyota was Michael Letourneau, 58, of Sanford, who said he was distracted momentarily before the crash by an item falling out of a bag in the truck.

The driver of the SUV headed westbound was identified as Roderick Pero, 68, of New Durham, N.H.

No other information was available at time of posting.
