ROCHESTER - The man arrested Wednesday in a broad daylight Taser and knife attack has a long rap sheet with Rochester Police including second-degree assault.

The fracas broke out a little after 4 p.m. when it is alleged Paul Skaltsis, 25, of 135 North Main St., got into a fight with another man in an alleyway outside Skaltsis' home near George and Ed's General Store.

Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau said Skaltsis got into a shouting match with the victim, then Tasered and cut him several times with a knife.

The victim was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as serious but nonlife-threatening injuries. Boudreau said on Thursday he wasn't sure whether he had been released from the hospital.

Meanwhile, Skaltsis was charged with a pair of felony-level assaults. Boudreau said several bystanders witnessed the attack, one of them calling police to summon help.

Skaltsis' history with Rochester Police includes 2008 arrests for criminal threatening, simple assault and second-degree assault; a 2009 arrest for riot and a 2012 arrest for criminal mischief.
