ROCHESTER - The reformatted, smaller rendition of the venerable Rochester Fair began getting down to business this week with its initial offering for potential vendors during the four-day event. The fair was on hiatus this past September due to financial troubles, but in the past months moves were made to allow for a downsized fair that will focus more on agriculture an run four days instead of the 10 as in the recent past. Next year's rendition will run from Sept. 13-16 and will include carnival rides but no midway of typical games of chance and skill and other carnival booths. Instead the fair is looking to include local vendors selling a variety of products and services. There will also be a farmers market, an artisan demonstration area and vendor space for general merchandise and food. General outdoor vending space is $30 per foot ($300 for a 10X10) and handmade/homemade craft space is $320 for a 10X10 including insurance. In the artisan area there is no cost with an ongoing demonstration of the craft. Farmers market space is $50 for a four-day spot. To view and download an application click HERE.
