Winter in the Rochester area this year has been cold but not frigid so far, but that will change next week when a three-day cold snap brings bone-chilling temperatures to the region. The frigid temps will stretch from New England to the South to the Rockies and see temperatures drop 10-20 degrees below historical averages. Despite plentiful sunshine Rochester will wake up on Monday with a low of 1 degree and wind chills around 10 below zero. On Tuesday it only gets worse with a high of just 14 and a low of three with wind making it feel much colder. Wednesday's temperatures will ease up just a bit with a high of 18 and a low of six under a thick cloud cover. Beginning Thursday a slow rebound begins ending with temps hitting almost 40 by the MLK Jr. holiday.
