Woman with area ties on lam after chase

EPPING, N.H. - State and local police are on the lookout for a Mason, N.H., woman with area ties who led officers on a chase through Rochester and Milton on Tuesday before the pursuit was called off by State Police.

Ashley N. Leighton, 23, was directed to stop her vehicle for an apparent infraction as she headed northbound on Route 16 on Tuesday in Rochester, but she failed to yield and a chase began.

State Police said the chase continued from the Spaulding Turnpike onto Route 125 through north Rochester and into Milton, where ultimately the State Police chose

to terminate the pursuit.

The vehicle was described as a 2005 gray Mercury Mountaineer with New Hampshire registration 3583189.

Leighton is known to frequent the Milton and Farmington, N.H., area as well as Lebanon.

She is wanted by the Somersworth Police Department and Lee Police Department for other outstanding warrants as well as by the New Hampshire State Police on charges of reckless conduct, driving after suspension, reckless operation and disobeying a police officer related to the pursuit.
