The Town of Milton Board of Selectmen and Milton Economic Development Committee (MEDC) are pleased to announce that a public workshop on the future for business development near Exits 17 and 18 on the Spaulding Turnpike will be held at Milton Town Hall on Friday October 4, 2013 from 8:30 to 3:30 PM. This workshop is open to all residents and is part of the town’s effort to hear from its citizens about economic development in Milton. Based on the results of the workshop, the town hopes to market sites near the exits for business development.

“We are very pleased to sponsor this workshop and encourage citizens of the town to come and share their ideas and views regarding the possible future development of these areas.” noted Robbie Parsons, Chairman of the MEDC.

The Committee was formed last year based as an initiative of the Milton Board of Selectmen.  While the Milton Economic Development Committee is interested in economic development throughout town, the Committee saw an opportunity to focus on Exits 17 and 18.  Through a grant from PSNH and financial assistance from Federal Savings Bank, the committee has been able to secure professional design assistance to prepare concept plans for future business development in these areas.

The Milton Economic Development Committee is coordinating the workshop and has retained the services of a professional design team. The team consists of Jack Mettee, AICP; Dana Lynch, PE, Civil Works; Douglas Greiner, ASLA, g2+1 and Shannon Alther, AIA, TMS Architects.  This team has worked successfully together on similar design workshops in Somersworth, Seabrook and Hampton.

In addition to the design team, Denise Roy-Palmer from WEDCO and Steve Ireland from NH DOT District 6, Durham will participate in the design workshop. Michael Bergeron from the NH Department of Resources and Economic Development will join the design team for a portion of the workshop.

Upon completion of the workshop, a report will be prepared that summarize the results of the workshop and provides concept plans for future development.   This information will be placed on the town’s website and provided to NH DRED, PSNH, commercial and industrial realtors and other interested parties.
