ROCHESTER - Sarah "Sadie" (MacArthur) MacKinnon, born April 21, 1932, in Grand Mira, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, died peacefully in Providence, R.I., on April 8, 2025. The daughter of Joseph Alexander MacArthur and Theresa (MacKinnon) MacArthur, and sister of the late Margaret Aucoin. Her life was a true testament to love, family, and faith.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Richard & Martha MacKinnon of Seattle Wash., Wayne & Kathy MacKinnon of Attleboro, Mass., Theresa & Bob Moitozo of Rehoboth, Mass., Brian & Mary Jo MacKinnon of Coventry, R.I. and Judy & Rob Snyder of Brookfield Mass., 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and her legacy of love, laughter, and strong Cape Breton roots live on through them.
Her faith was a guiding light in her life. A devoted member of Holy Rosary Church, Rochester, and the St. Anne's Sodality Society, Sadie found strength, comfort, and purpose in her community and her beliefs.
Known for her quick wit and infectious humor, she brought sass and sparkle wherever she went. Sadie's love was the kind that created lasting traditions, kept family close across generations, and left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
