A history of The Lebanon Voice and The Rochester Voice

The Lebanon Voice began publishing its online newspaper on April 13, 2012, reporting on government, fire and police stories and news and special interest features in Lebanon, Maine.

It garnered its first advertiser in May after less than a month of publication.

In July 2012, The Lebanon Voice began covering Milton news as well, and a year later Rochester was added to its primary coverage area.

To reflect its news content and community and to provide a better venue for Northern Seacoast advertisers, The Lebanon Voice merged with the newly created The Rochester Voice on July 10, 2017.

In July 2017 The Rochester Voice (which replaced the former Lebanon Voice) averaged a unique monthly readership of more than 30,000.

Currently, The Rochester Voice covers Rochester and surrounding cities and towns, including Dover, Farmington, Barrington, Milton and Somersworth, N.H.,as well as Acton, Lebanon, Berwick and Sanford, Maine, with some 8,000 daily visits and more than 40,000 unique monthly visitors.

The newspaper is updated daily.

In May 2016 the newspaper became a subscriber publication. As of January 2023 we had more than 3,500 paid subscribers.

The Rochester Voice is a full-service newspaper with state, regional and local news, as well as Lifestyle, See N Go, Business, Focus, Wine and Dine, Obituaries and Opinion Page sections.

In July 2017 The Rochester Voice became a member of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.

In June 2018 The Rochester Voice became a member of the New Hampshire Press Association, sweeping all four general news awards in its category in its first statewide competition.

In 2020 it won six NHPA award, with four first-place awards including General Excellence: Digital Presence.

In November 2021 The Rochester Voice was recognized as Rochester's Business of the Year by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce. To view a creative about The Rochester Voice click here.

In June 2022 The Rochester Voice won two New Hampshire Press Association awards, including first place in editorial writing.

In 2023 The Rochester Voice won the coveted Community Service Award, 1st place, from the New Hampshire Press Association.
