Acrimonious exit of school chief ends with city buyout; amount not revealed

ROCHESTER - The Rochester School District and Superintendent Annie Azarloza have agreed to part ways effective June 30. Azarloza has been on paid administrative leave since Feb. 13.

Azarloza began here tenure as superintendent on July 1. In a statement released by the city, she expressed her appreciation to the Rochester students, families, and school staff for their support during her time with the district.

Meanwhile, Jared Fulgoni, 58, of Eliot, Maine, will serve as interim superintendent, and Sherri L. Nichols has been named assistant superintendent effective July 1.

Fulgoni earned a master's in education from the University of New Hampshire, a bachelor's degree from Plymouth State University, and completed graduate work at Harvard University.

He holds administrative certifications in Massachusetts, New York, and New Hampshire, including licensure as a superintendent and principal.

The terms of Azarloza's departure have not yet been released and will be updated when available, according to a statement from the city.
