ROCHESTER - The woman who earlier this month allegedly stole shoes from Walmart, putting her old shoes in a box and back on the sales rack was arrested on Tuesday.

Elisa Burleigh, 28, of 23 Morningside Drive, Dover, N.H., turned herself into Rochester Police soon after a warrant was issued.

Police say she stole about $300 worth of items in all, after selecting a floral-patterned bag off a shelf and walking casually about the store concealing items in the bag while eating food.

After finishing in the store, she allegedly put the bag underneath the basket in her cart and walked out the door.

When confronted by a store employee, she is said to have fled in a silver Hyundai Sonata.

Burleigh was charged with willful concealment, conspiracy to commit willful concealment and contempt of court. The contempt charge was added on Tuesday when it was learned she was out on bail from Dover District Court for another offense. Burleigh was held on $500 cash bail, which she was able to raise. She now faces a February arraignment in Rochester District Court.

Police also arrested Brittany Taylor, 21, of 3 Park St., Dover, earlier this month in connection with the case. Taylor was charged with willful concealment, false reports to law enforcement and a traffic violation. Taylor was released on personal recognizance and given a January arraignment date.
