Annual Mom's Day Tea this year steeped in politics

WEST LEBANON - The tea sandwiches were to-die-for. The scones were scrumptious. The desserts were delightful.

What else could it be but the West Lebanon Community Ladies Circle annual Mother’s Day Tea, which was held in two seatings at the First Parish Congregational  Church on Center Road on Saturday.

One of the event organizers, Nancy Wyman, said the tea has been a fabric of Mother’s Day in Lebanon for more than 20 years, and its proceeds go toward two $500 scholarships given to two Lebanon students who are either in college or entering college this fall.

Wyman said the recipient of one of the two scholarships has been decided, while the other is still uncertain. She said both would be announced later this year by Noble High School.

Democrat House 20 hopeful Bettie Harris-Howard was on hand doing some politicking with attendees at the first seating, while Republican House 20 hopeful Harrison Thorp talked with folks during the second.
