ROCHESTER - Barbara (Brown) Canelas died on April 11, 2023, with her daughters by her side.

Born in Lynn, Mass., she was the youngest child of Stanley and Lena Merryman. In 2000, she retired from her position as payroll supervisor from Frisbie Memorial Hospital after 24 years of employment and worked as a volunteer with the MAP program obtaining free medication for people in need. She was an active member of the Milton Assembly of God Church and in 2003, she retired from her position as secretary/treasurer.

She enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, traveling and camping with her family.

She is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence "Larry" Brown, who passed in 1998 and her brother Robert Merryman.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Canelas of Rochester, and two sisters: Edna and her husband Gene Noonan of Lincoln, Maine, and her sister, Lena Berg of Rochester; her two daughters, Kathy Richard of Barrington, and Robin and her husband, Thomas Laroche Sr. of Barrington.

Her granddaughter, Barbara Laroche of Rochester, NH, who was the light of her life and brought her so much joy. Grandchildren TJ Laroche and his wife Stefanie of Dover, NH, Melissa Laroche and her fiancé Jerih Hinton of Los Angeles, CA and Amanda Pierce and her husband Rob of Lowell, MA as well as several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
