ROCHESTER - Carmel Trepanier, 91, died Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at her home in Rochester, after a long period of failing health.

Carmel was born on the family farm in East Broughton QC, Canada, on Dec. 18, 1931, the daughter of Arthur and Ernestine (Roy) Faucher and had been living in Rochester since emigrating from Canada in 1960.

She was an active member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary where she was a communicant and formerly served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a longtime member of Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) of the St Michael and the Nine Choirs of Angels, and a longtime member of the Saint Anne Sodality. Carmel loved people, plants, flowers, birds, and the large variety of animals which passed through the household including her current cats. Her favorite pastime was knitting, which she called her "therapy". She routinely made sleepers of various sizes, blankets, hats and booties for children, prayer shawls and lap robes for the elderly. These were often gifted during the holiday season.

Carmel was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Claude Trepanier.

Surviving members of the family include: four sons and one daughter, Mario Trepanier and his wife Kim, John Trepanier and his wife Terri, Guy Trepanier, Claire Trepanier and her partner Dave Gagne and Marc Trepanier and his wife SallyAnn.
