ROCHESTER - Due to an unfavorable weather forecast, this year's Christmas Tree Lighting has been postponed till Tuesday, the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce announced today.
"We have rescheduled the Tree Lighting for the safety and enjoyment of all involved," the chamber said in a statement released today.
The ceremony and fun-filled program will still get under way at 5:30 p.m.
Those who attend will also enjoy many other festivities throughout the evening including the reading of the Night Before Christmas by Mayor Paul Callaghan, the Lighting of the Christmas Tree, Caroling and Dance Performances, cookies and hot chocolate provided by Potter's House Bakery & Cafe, cookie decorating, a collection for the homeless and a special visit from Santa Claus.
The Friday afternoon forecast calls for occasional showers.
