ROCHESTER - The City of Rochester is alerting residents and developers about a recent surge in fraudulent invoices circulating to Planning Board applicants.

These fake invoices, which request payment for application review fees, have been sent via email and appear to originate from the City's Planning Department, according to a city statement released today.

City officials stress that no legitimate communications will ever request payment through emails or provide wiring instructions outside official channels.

The City is taking immediate steps to protect applicants, including reviewing Planning application notices and issuing public warnings. Residents and developers are urged to verify any invoice with the Planning & Development Department before making payments.

For questions or to report suspicious invoices, contact the City of Rochester Planning & Development Department at 603-335-1338.
