ROCHESTER - A Rochester teenager was arrested on Thursday in the theft of prescription drugs from a Rochester pharmacy.
Gabriel King, 18, was charged with felony burglary and falsifying physical evidence and misdemeanor criminal threatening.
Rochester Police Officers responded to a reported robbery in progress at Walgreens around 9:50 p.m. after a male was alleged to have accessed the pharmacy area, forcefully obtained prescription medication, and assaulted a pharmacy employee.
Subsequently, it was reported that the suspect caused damage to merchandise while fleeing the store.
The store employee assaulted did not require medical attention, police said.
Following the incident, police initiated a search in the vicinity, aided by witnesses who provided information on the suspect's direction of escape.

"Eventually, officers apprehended the suspect on a nearby street," Rochester Police Public Information Officer Andrew Swanberry said. "The discarded medications were also recovered."
King was taken into custody without resistance and was held pending his arraignment later today.
