ROCHESTER - The death of a 63-year-old female transient found near a dumpster behind the Rochester Planet Fitness on New Year's Day was caused by a "medical event," according to Rochester Police.

The report of the body lying face down in the area of the dumpster was called into dispatch a little before 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday. The report initially called into police identified the body as that of a male, but Rochester Police Public Information Officer Jeremy Aucoin said last week that it was that of a female transient.

Aucoin said on Monday that "an autopsy ruled this medical."

The report was first posted on Rochester NH Scanner Alerts.

According to the scanner bulletin, the body was found behind the Planet Fitness at 306 North Main St., near a dumpster, and the victim was "not conscious not breathing face down."

Frisbie EMS declared the woman deceased at the scene.
